According to results of the 2016 navigation season, the fleet of NIBULON’s shipping company transported and shipped for export more than 2 million tons of grain and oilseeds.
NIBULON continues increasing volumes of transportation by rivers. Thus, according to results of the 2016 navigation season, NIBULON's fleet, which numbers 55 units, transported and shipped for export more than 2 million tons of grain and oilseeds and performed about 400 cargo trips along the Dnipro River and the Southern Buh River.
This year was significant for NIBULON, as the company’s new automated transshipment terminal in Voznesensk district was put into operation in summer; dredging of the Southern Buh River was performed at its own expense, resulting in 134 km of navigable waterway. Thus, in August, NIBULON’s cargo vessel proceeded to Voznesensk for the first time in 25 years.
Overall, the shipping company performed 170 cargo trips along the Southern Buh River during the 2016 navigation season, having transported 300 thousand tons of grain and oilseeds. As a result, the company broke the best result of the Soviet period in volumes of transportation by river, as the maximum grain cargo that was transported along the Southern Buh River comprised 50 thousand tons of grain crops per year.
Upon completion of the investment programme, annual cargo carriage volume along the Dnipro River and the Southern Buh River will comprise 4 million tons of grain crops; this will enable one to remove more than 166 thousand trucks per year from the highways.
Due to the constructed modern fleet, the company itself performs both river transportation and loading-unloading operations (transshipment in the roads). St. Mykolai self-propelled floating crane, whose main task is to complete the loading of Panamax vessels in the roads, in particular, as part of commercial services rendering, has transshipped more than 4 million tons of different types of cargoes during its operation in the outer roads of Mykolaiv Sea Port (since August 2013).
It should be noted that NIBULON cooperates with the European Investment Bank. As part of this cooperation, since July 2016 NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard has launched the fourth (the last one of the series) NBL-91 non-self-propelled vessel and three B2000 non-self-propelled vessels designed for operation on the main waterway of Mykolaiv region – on the Southern Buh River.
Moreover, due to support of the EIB, within 2-3 years NIBULON will:
─ build up to 10 high tech elevator complexes, including the ones along the Dnipro River and the Southern Buh River; this will enable one to bring the company’s total grain storage volume to 2.5 million tons;
─ reconstruct NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard; this will enable one to build up to 15 vessels and process up to 15 thousand tons of metal per year;
─ increase the deadweight of its cargo fleet to 250 thousand tons;
─ increase river transportation volumes along the Dnipro River and the Southern Buh River to 4 million tons, which, in turn, will enable the state to save UAH 3.16 billion of the state funds for road repair.
