Ob River LNG tanker is under a short-term charter with Sakhalin Energy and has been successfully operating to the highest standards of marine industry. In 2015 Sakhalin Energy announced a tender for the long-term charter of an ice-class LNG tanker starting from 2018; the tender was awarded to GMT.
Andrey Okhotkin noticed that Russian salesman graduated from specialist educational establishment work on the vessel. This is a confirmation of serious work performed by Sakhalin Energy in the area of Russian specialists involvement into project work implementation. This contract is another evidence for it.
Ryan McGuckin noticed that this is one more confirmation of the business cooperation between companies.
The vessel is equipped with membrane-type tanks with 149,700 cub. m. total capacity. The tanker is fully adapted for use at low temperatures and has a 1A FS ice class, which allows it to efficiently operate in ice conditions. This is a key condition for transporting LNG from the Sakhalin-2 project’s terminal in the port of Prigorodnoye all year round.
The tanker has a safety management system to assure its reliable operation. Besides, the vessel’s crew constantly improves its safety management skills, including safety and environmental emergency readiness.
