APL Extends Cargo Assurance for Protection Against Cargo-in-transit Risks

APL Chief Commercial Officer, Thomas Cassuto said, “APL Cargo Assurance extends our range of value-added services through our one-stop shop. While we practise precise cargo handling, APL Cargo Assurance serves to help our shippers manage their cargo liability exposure to the perils of sea voyage. In offering APL Cargo Assurance, we make it convenient for our shippers to enjoy a greater peace of mind, knowing that they are well-covered by the most befitting protection plan for their shipments with APL.”

Unlike other protection plans that take into account clients’ claims history which can translate into higher insurance costs, APL Cargo Assurance offers competitive rates that have been secured with its partnered insurance company. An efficient and simple process is in place to facilitate claims and settlement within 30 days for straightforward claims.

Unique to APL Cargo Assurance, is also its “SMARTcool Assured” – an enhanced protection option that shippers can purchase for APL cargo that applies its SMARTcool cold treatment solution. With “SMARTcool Assured”, expenses for a second cold treatment process and/or costs involved in re-routing a SMARTcool shipment to its importing market are covered in the event the shipment does not clear phytosanitary inspection for the importing country.

With “Container Damage Waiver", APL clients are able to minimise their liability for accidental damages to containers while under their care and control.
