In partnership with the Association of Canadian Port Authorities and the Latin American Association of Ports and Terminals, the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) unites seaports in the common goal of creating prosperity throughout the Western Hemisphere.
“As the unified and recognized voice of the port industry, AAPA is excited to continue to share our story around the globe,” said Kurt Nagle, AAPA’s President and CEO.
“Ports Day is part of an ongoing commitment to remind our policymakers and the public about the important role ports play in facilitating the movement of trade and linking us to the global economy.”
Beginning on Ports Day, port leaders from across the hemisphere will gather in Washington, D.C. for the AAPA’s Annual Spring Conference to discuss trade policy, increasing freight volumes, and the planning necessary to meet the growing demand for goods. Attendees will also collaborate on ways in which the port industry can lead in job creation and economic growth.
“We are proud to celebrate Ports Day on April 4th, alongside the hundreds of seaports in our hemisphere,” said Blair J. Ciklin, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners for the Port of Palm Beach District. “My fellow Commissioners and the staff at the Port are all very excited to join in shining the spotlight on seaports, during this special day so thoughtfully created by the AAPA.”
