Tods Defence, a Unitech Aerospace Company, announced it has been selected by prime contractor BAE Systems to design and manufacture bow sonar domes for the Royal Navy’s Type 26 frigates.
The company announced this contract after a steel-cutting ceremony on Thursday which marked the construction start of the first frigate in the class, the future HMS Glasgow.
The company said it was selected following a design and assessment phase which was carried out in partnership between BAE Systems and the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD).
“Tods Defence is very proud of the contribution that its advanced Sonar Dome technology is making to the Type 26 Frigates’ capability, which will ensure that is the most advanced warship in its class when it is introduced in to service,” said Pete Eckersall, Vice President and Managing Director of Tods Defence.
