Port Metro Vancouver, the Canada’s largest port, has submitted an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the building of a new container terminal on the west coast of Canada - Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Project.

“The Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Project will ensure demand can be met while providing important economic benefits to B.C. and Canada. We look forward to the upcoming review of our environmental assessment by an independent panel,” commented Port Metro Vancouver President and CEO Robin Silvester.

Main components of the project are:

• Adjacent to the existing Roberts Bank terminals, a new deep-sea marine terminal will be developed and constructed
• The existing Roberts Bank causeway will be widen in order to accommodate road and rail infrastructure
• The existing Roberts Bank tug basin will be expanded in order to the existing and an additional tug boat contractor.
