Florida International Terminal (FIT), operated by SAAM, will add a new service from shipping line CMA CGM. It is the only direct service in the market connecting the west coast of South America with the east coast of the United States.

Florida International Terminal (FIT) Welcomes New Service from CMA CGM

The AMERICAS XL service made its first call on Saturday, January 7th, in Port Everglades, to be followed by the port of Cartagena (Colombia) and San Antonio, Chile.

FIT CEO Justin Weir commented that “this new service will directly benefit foreign trade, expanding purchase alternatives for consumers and transportation options for our customers to and from South America.”

The Port’s Chief Executive and Director, Jonathan Daniels, remarked, “I especially want to congratulate FIT for bringing this service to our port. CMA CGM’s direct service will give Port Everglades a decisive advantage, as we will be the first U.S. port of call from the west coast of South America.”

The vessels will be operated by CMA CGM and will carry perishables, fresh fruit and dry cargo.
