Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is Container Tracking?

Container Tracking is a system used to monitor the location and status of container shipments as they travel along the supply chain, from the origin port to the destination port. Here's a breakdown of the benefits of container tracking:

  • Improved Visibility: companies can gain insights into a container's progress, anticipate delays, and optimize their logistics operations.
  • Enhanced Customer Service: with real-time tracking, businesses can provide customers with accurate estimated arrival times and updates on their container shipments.
  • Reduced Costs: by pinpointing bottlenecks and preventing delays, container tracking can help businesses save money on transportation costs.

Overall, Container Tracking plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth and efficient movement of goods across the globe.

2. How does the Container Tracking service work?

The Container Tracking service has access to information from dozens of freight companies, from which it can extract the necessary information about the schedule of a given container shipment. Specifically, the Container Tracking service can provide information on the entire route of a container shipment, along with dates for all important events such as port of loading and port of discharge, arrival and departure time, including transshipment ports and ships. In addition, you can see the current position of the ship carrying the container unit and find out if it is expected to arrive on time at the destination port.

3. How do I track my container? What kind of ID number do I need?

To track your container shipment using the Container Tracking service, you'll need the unique Container Number assigned to it. This Container Number is typically found on the container's exterior or in the documentation you received upon its purchase and consists of four letters followed by seven numbers (e.g. ABCD1234567).

Once you have your container number in hand, simply enter it into the designated field on our Container Tracking platform. Our system will then search for the container's information and provide you with real-time updates on its location and status.

Please note the service currently tracks containers shipments using the container number only. We do not accept Bill of Lading (BOL) or Booking number at this time.

4. How can I use the Container Tracking service?

The Container Tracking service is available with a subscription to the Satellite plan or by purchasing a container package. With a subscription to the Satellite plan, you can utilize the Container Tracking service as long as your subscription remains active. The number of containers you can track depends on the chosen subscription plan.
Alternatively, you can purchase containers at the rates provided on this page.

5. How long can I use the Container Tracking service?

As long as your subscription to the Satellite plan remains active and you have containers credits remaining.
If you are not subscribed to the Satellite plan but purchased containers, you will be able to use the Container Tracking service for a period of 12 months from the purchase date.

6. How many times will I be charged if I search one container multiple times?

Once! When you search for a container for the first time, your limit decreases by one. Subsequent searches for the same container within the next 30 days will not further decrease your limit.

7. How often is the information in the Container Tracking service updated?

Container schedule information is updated no earlier than once every 12 hours. The position of the ship carrying the container shipment is updated in real-time.

8. What payment methods do you support?

We support online payments by credit/debit card as well as standard wire transfer.
If you want to pay by card, you can use the “Buy” button above. An electronic invoice will be issued automatically after a successful payment. If you prefer to pay by bank transfer, please email us your company details (name, address, VAT number) so we can send you an invoice for the payment.
