P&O Ferries is raising the capacity by 25% on the route Zeebrugge-Teesport and PD Ports, owner and operator of several British ports, is starting from the English port an extra rail connection to Glasgow. Both initiatives will be aligned in order to create a gateway to the Scottish markets.
Today P&O Ferries transports annually 100,000 freight units on this route, using already the ms Bore Song and the ms Mistral.
In Teesport it is about a second rail service to Mossend, near Glasgow.
The capacity upgrade will be realised in the beginning of June. In this respect both partners are anticipating the discontinuation of the shortsea service Zeebrugge-Rosyth of DFDS Seaways.
