A newbuild platform support vessel of GulfMark Offshore has been launched recently in Turkey.
The new PCV vessel, North Barents was designed in GulfMark’s ST-216 Arctic design. The ship was launched at the Desan Shipyard in Turkey but the final outfitting will take place at the Simek yard in Norway.
North Barents is scheduled to be delivered in the beginning of 2016.
The new supplement of the GulfMark’s fleet is part of $500 million building program that will place 12 of the world's most advanced vessels – particularly high specification PSVs – at the vanguard of GulfMark flotilla.
North Barents is a sister ship to North Cruys and North Pomor. All three vessels are highly functional harsh environment PSVs, of GulfMark's ST-216 Arctic design, featuring 1,000 square meters of valuable deck space, built at Simek A/S of Flekkefjord, Norway. The vessels have Ice-1B notation and a deadweight in excess of 5,000 tonnes.
Eight of the GulMark’s newbuildings are designed for the harsh environments of today's emerging fields in the far North Sea and the Arctic Ocean. Another four additional large PCVs will be included in the service operations of the US Gulf of Mexico market.
