Port of Zeebrugge has announced that CLdN is expanding its operations by providing extra capacity to its services between Zeebrugge and Ireland. With this expansion, CLdN strengthens the transport of cargo to and from Ireland in response to current challenges.
From the 24th of April onward, CLdN will operate three sailings per week, up from two presently, on the Zeebrugge vv Dublin service. In addition, CLdN will create a new RoRo service between Zeebrugge and Cork, that will operate one round trip a week.
In the past few years, CLdN has invested heavily in a fleet of modern vessels with environmentally friendly credentials while simultaneously offering high capacities for freight. By doing so, CLdN aims at providing a robust and reliable product during this challenging period caused by the Covid-19-crisis and the approaching Brexit.
CEO a.i. of the Port of Zeebrugge, Mr. Rik Goetinck comments: “The increased sailings into Dublin and the new service between Cork and the port of Zeebrugge, strengthen Zeebrugge’s connection with the Irish markets. Against the background of the Covid-19-crisis and of the forthcoming Brexit, import and export cargo flows between Ireland and the EU continent need to be guaranteed, through avoiding the UK landbridge, and deploying direct short-sea routes between Ireland and Zeebrugge, having a strong geographical position at the heart of the EU consumer markets.”
