On 9 August, Höegh Autoliners achieved a milestone by loading over 6300 export vehicles on Pure Car and Truck carrier (PCTC) vessel Höegh St. Petersburg at the Offshore Container Terminal Berth (OCT) in Mumbai.

According to the Ministry of Shipping, Mumbai Port this has set a new record for shipment of automobiles on a single cargo vessel.

The total single shipment consisted of 6316 vehicles from Volkswagen and other OEMs who have set up their own manufacturing facilities in India. Export of cars from India in such large numbers is a successful example from the “make in India” campaign launched by the Government of India.

To facilitate the record loading, officials from Mumbai Port, OCT, Höegh Autoliners and Merchant Shipping Services Pvt Ltd attended the operation.

Höegh St. Petersburg has a cargo carrying capacity of 7850 cars is 228m in length, 32.2m in width and has 13 decks.
