We are pleased to announce that we have taken delivery of the Randgrid FSO, which is currently in transit from the shipyard in Singapore to Statoil’s Gina Krog oil and gas field in the North Sea. The unit has been undergoing a conversion using one of Teekay’s existing shuttle tankers, the Randgrid, at the Sembawang Shipyard in Singapore.

From a Shuttle Tanker to an FSO

Randgrid FSO will operate at the Gina Krog oil and gas field in the North Sea, which started production on June 30, 2017 and is amongst Statoil’smajor new developments. The unit is designed to operate for a minimum of 15 years of uninterrupted operations, without the need to leave the field for drydocking.

Millions of hours of hard work and even more passion and dedication have been put into this conversion project and, what’s most important, it was done so without any injuries to personnel.

We would like to congratulate the team for reaching this important milestone and wish them a safe and smooth sailing to the North Sea, at which point the unit will undergo field installation and testing before it commences its charter contract with Statoil!
